Clerks - 35mm Presentation (15)

Clerks - 35mm Presentation

The Loft Movie Theatre is proud to present a very special 35mm screening of Kevin Smith’s 1994 cult comedy, Clerks.

New Jersey convenience store clerk Dante Hicks gets called in to work on his day off. As his shift unfolds at the Quick Stop, a series of encounters with customers and friends leads him to contemplate life.

With razor-sharp writing from Kevin Smith in his directorial debut, memorable characters including the first ever appearance of Jay and Silent Bob, and a soundtrack that will transport you back to the 90s, Clerks is the low-budget slice of slacker life not to be missed on the big screen!

This screening is presented in collaboration with Forbidden Planet Nottingham, who will be welcoming Ahmed Raafat - the illustrator of Kevin Smith’s 'Quick Stops' comic book series - in store on the 7th September to celebrate the release of 'Quick Stops' Volume 2.

Shakespeare's Globe presents Othello (12A)

Shakespeare's Globe presents Othello

Celebrated by many, Othello has risen through the ranks of the Met police. But can his hard-won reputation, his marriage to Desdemona, and his own subconscious survive the toxic systems that surround him?

Sixteenth-century Venice becomes modern-day London’s Docklands, as Othello grapples with many of the same issues that successful Black people have faced for centuries.

This is an Othello for our times.

Experience Shakespeare’s confronting look at the destructive impact of institutional racism, toxic masculinity, and a justice system locked in a vicious cycle of self-fulfilling prophecy.

Director Ola Ince debuted in the intimate, candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse with this ‘inspired’ (The Guardian), and ‘profound’ (Evening Standard) and ‘masterfully redefined’ (West End Best Friend) take on Shakespeare’s blistering tragedy.
